Factory Requirements for a Food Extrusion Production Line
A food extrusion line should be planned around the factory before equipment enters production. Buyers sometimes select the main machine first and check utilities later, which can lead to layout changes, insufficient electrical capacity or a dryer that cannot use the intended heat source. A basic factory review helps the supplier prepare a more realistic quotation and line drawing.
1. Destination voltage and electrical capacity
Provide the factory voltage, frequency and phase at the beginning of the project. Export equipment can be configured for the destination electrical standard, but the supplier also needs to know the available transformer capacity. The total requirement includes the extruder, mixers, conveyors, oven or dryer, seasoning equipment, cooling equipment and optional packing machine.
Final installed power should be confirmed only after the complete equipment list and heating method are selected. The factory electrician should review cable sizing, distribution cabinets, grounding and local electrical rules.
2. Workshop length, width and clear height
Send the internal workshop dimensions, column locations, doors and usable clear height. A straight production line is not always possible. Conveyors and machine positions can be adjusted, but maintenance access, operator movement and material flow must remain practical.
The drawing should also show where raw materials enter and where finished products leave. This helps prevent unnecessary crossing between powder handling, processing and packing areas.
3. Heat source for the oven or dryer
For a puffed snack line, the oven can use electricity, natural gas or steam. The factory should identify which sources are actually available and provide the relevant connection conditions. A natural-gas system needs a buyer-side gas supply line and local safety review. A steam system needs confirmed steam pressure and flow. Electric heating needs enough electrical capacity for the whole line.
Pet food, fish feed and other drying projects may use different dryer structures, so the heat-source decision must be matched to the actual product and moisture load.
4. Raw material and finished-product flow
Plan storage for flour, additives and packaging materials. Consider dust control and cleaning around mixing and conveying equipment. Finished products need enough cooling before packing, and the packing area should have space for weighing, bagging, inspection and temporary storage.
5. Water, compressed air and ventilation
Project requirements vary by process. Buyers should report the available water source and compressed-air conditions even when the initial machine list appears mainly electrical. Ventilation is especially important around ovens, dryers, oil spraying and seasoning areas. Local exhaust and fire-safety requirements should be reviewed by the factory.
6. Operators and production organization
A typical ZEKO puffed snack line may require approximately one to two operators, depending on automation, seasoning method and whether packing is manual or automatic. This does not include every worker in raw-material preparation, quality control, warehouse or finished-product handling. The staffing plan should cover the whole production shift rather than only the extruder.
7. Installation and future maintenance access
Leave access for electrical cabinets, motors, screw removal, belt cleaning and replacement of wear parts. Confirm the largest machine dimensions against factory doors and internal transport routes. If the line may be expanded later, reserve space and electrical capacity before the first installation.
Factory information checklist
- Voltage, frequency, phase and available transformer capacity
- Workshop length, width, height, doors and columns
- Available electricity, natural gas or steam
- Water, compressed air and ventilation conditions
- Raw-material entrance and finished-product exit
- Target capacity, working hours and packing method
- Local installation and safety requirements
Prepare the layout before ordering
ZEKO uses the confirmed product, capacity and factory conditions to arrange the equipment sequence and line layout. Review the food machinery quotation checklist and the available puffed snack production line, pet food extrusion line and fish feed production line options before requesting a layout.
Send ZEKO your workshop dimensions and utility information for a production-line review.
