What Information Do You Need Before Requesting a Food Machinery Quotation?
A clear quotation starts with clear project information. When buyers only ask for ?the price of a production line,? suppliers can only provide a rough answer. Food machinery is closely connected with product formula, capacity, factory layout, energy conditions and packaging plan. Preparing the right information helps you receive a faster and more accurate proposal.
1. Define the final product
Start with the product you want to make. For example, puffed corn snacks, dog food kibble, floating fish feed, dried fruit, spices or nutrition powder all need different equipment configurations. If possible, prepare reference photos or videos of the target product. This helps the supplier understand shape, size, texture and process direction.
2. Confirm capacity and working schedule
Capacity should be expressed in kg/h, tons per day or bags per day. Also confirm your planned working hours. A line designed for 300 kg/h single-shift production is different from a line designed for continuous industrial output. Capacity also needs to match the whole line, including drying, cooling and packing, not only the main machine.
3. Share raw material information
Raw materials affect machine selection and process design. For extrusion projects, formula moisture, starch level, protein level and fat content can influence expansion and stability. For drying projects, initial moisture, product size and heat sensitivity are important. You do not need to reveal confidential formulas, but basic material information is necessary for a reliable quotation.
4. Factory conditions
Suppliers need to know factory space, ceiling height, power standard, available fuel and local installation conditions. This information affects layout, dryer heating method, electrical configuration and conveyor design. If you already have a factory drawing, even a simple sketch can help.
5. Automation and packaging plan
Some buyers need a semi-automatic line with manual packing, while others need more automated conveying, weighing and packing. The quotation should reflect the production style you want. Packaging format, bag size and expected labor arrangement should be discussed early, especially for export or retail products.
6. Budget and project stage
Sharing a budget range does not weaken your position. It helps the supplier recommend a realistic configuration. A pilot line, a starter factory and a high-capacity industrial line should not be quoted in the same way. If you are still comparing business plans, say so. If you are ready to purchase, the proposal can go deeper into layout, delivery time and installation.
Simple quotation checklist
- Target product and reference photo
- Capacity requirement
- Raw material type and moisture
- Factory space and power supply
- Fuel type for drying or heating
- Automation level and packing method
- Destination country and installation plan
